Khalid and Normani are teaming up once again with their new track, “Personal,” marking their first collaboration since their 2018 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Love Lies.”
The long-anticipated song, set to release this Friday (Dec. 6), was first teased by Khalid on social media. “The door is open/ You don’t even need a key/ You’ve been pushing on me so relentlessly,” Normani sings in the track’s preview, which Khalid shared on Instagram. He captioned the clip simply with the date: “12/6.”
The teaser video, filmed on a photo shoot set, shows Khalid and Normani posing against a green backdrop, exuding the same chemistry that fueled their previous success. The duo shares candid moments in the clip, with Khalid lip-syncing to his line, “So sensual and/ You know I can never stay mad at her,” before panning the camera to Normani, who delivers effortless moves in sync with the sultry vibe of the track.
“Put your body on my body/ Get personal,” the pair sings in harmony, capturing the song’s intimate energy and celebratory tone.
The release of “Personal” comes at the perfect time for the cozy season and follows a year of milestones for both artists. Normani recently dropped her debut album, Dopamine, while Khalid released his third studio album, Sincere.
Reflecting on their friendship and past collaboration, Normani previously told Billboard, “Khalid is one of my closest friends. We knew ‘Love Lies’ felt good, but we didn’t necessarily know how far it would go. It’s incredible to see it connect with so many people.”
