Apple TV+ is set to shake up the music competition scene with its latest series, KPOPPED, an exciting fusion of Western hits and K-pop artistry. This innovative show will see global stars collaborating with top K-pop idols to reimagine some of their most iconic songs, delivering electrifying performances in front of a live audience in Seoul.
Leading the charge are hip-hop sensation Megan Thee Stallion and K-pop legend PSY, known for the global phenomenon Gangnam Style. In addition to serving as an executive producer, Megan will bring her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit Savage to the stage, offering fans a fresh take on the chart-topping anthem.
The show’s executive production team is stacked with industry heavyweights, including American Idol judge Lionel Richie, alongside Moira Ross, Miky Lee, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong. Producer Ki-woong Kim will represent CJ ENM Co., Ltd., while Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, and David Tibballs will helm production for Eureka Productions, a subsidiary of Fremantle. Bruce Eskowitz also joins the team, ensuring that KPOPPED delivers an unforgettable viewing experience.
KPOPPED marks Apple’s latest venture into music-based reality programming, following previous releases like My Kind of Country, a country music competition launched in 2023 with Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves at the helm. The platform has also explored the K-pop world through its docuseries K-Pop Idols, which chronicled the careers of artists like Blackswan, Jessi, and Cravity.
While an official premiere date has yet to be revealed, Megan Thee Stallion has a packed schedule leading up to the show’s debut. She is set to perform at the exclusive FanDuel/Spotify Super Bowl party alongside Blink-182 and DJ Pee .Wee (aka Anderson .Paak) on February 7, just ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated halftime performance at the big game on February 9.
