Jason Aldean Guarantees Ronnie Milsap Won’t Be Forgotten ‘Anytime Soon’ With New Song: ‘I Knew Immediately That We Were Going to Cut It’

Jason Aldean is keeping the influence of country legend Ronnie Milsap alive through his new song “Anytime Soon,” the opening track on his latest album Songs About Us. The track has drawn attention for its clear musical nod to Milsap, with Aldean explaining that he was immediately drawn to the song when he first heard it.

“I knew immediately that we were going to cut it,” Aldean said of “Anytime Soon” in a recent Billboard feature examining the making of the song. He described himself as a longtime Milsap fan and said the track’s opening organ arrangement reminded him of the country star’s distinctive sound.

Aldean’s connection to Milsap is reflected in the way “Anytime Soon” begins Songs About Us. The song was written by Kurt Allison, John Edwards, Tully Kennedy and John Morgan, and Aldean selected it as the album opener because of its different sound and the way the organ-led introduction immediately establishes the record. He has described the opening as a deliberate tip of the hat to Milsap.

Songs About Us was released April 24, 2026, marking Aldean’s latest full-length studio project. The album also includes the title track featuring fellow Georgia native Luke Bryan. Aldean and Bryan performed “Songs About Us” together at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, during their April 25 concert, which drew more than 65,000 people.

The Milsap reference also arrives as Aldean continues to acknowledge the artists who shaped his country music influences. In discussing the album and its title track, he has referenced acts including Alabama, George Strait and Ronnie Milsap as artists he and Bryan grew up listening to.

Milsap remains a major figure in country music history, having accumulated 35 No. 1 country hits during his career and becoming one of the genre’s most successful crossover artists. Aldean has also previously shared a chart milestone with Milsap, joining the group of country performers with at least 30 No. 1 hits after “Whiskey Drink” reached the top of country radio in 2025.

As Songs About Us continues its run, “Anytime Soon” remains the album’s opening statement and one of its clearest connections to the country music generation that influenced Aldean, carrying Milsap’s musical imprint into a new release in 2026.
