XG’s Cocona Comes Out as Transmasculine Non-Binary On 20th Birthday

XG member Cocona has publicly come out as transmasculine non-binary as of December 6, 2025, coinciding with their 20th birthday. In an Instagram post shared via the group’s official account, Cocona revealed that they were assigned female at birth (AFAB) but have come to identify as “transmasculine non-binary.”

In the post, Cocona stated that earlier in 2025 they underwent top surgery — a chest masculinization procedure — and explained that although they were perceived as female at birth, that label “never represented who [they are].” Cocona said that living in a way more aligned with masculinity felt more authentic.

Cocona described self-acceptance as the hardest challenge of their life so far, but added that embracing their identity allowed them to “open a new door,” bringing courage, growth, and a new perspective on the world. They expressed gratitude to their bandmates, their family, and their label (including producer/executive Jakops / “Simon-san”) for their support during this journey.

Alongside the announcement, Cocona shared a photograph showing their bare torso (draped in a black jacket) with visible healing from top surgery, symbolizing both vulnerability and empowerment.

The coming-out announcement has drawn attention worldwide as a significant moment of visibility within the global music scene, especially for trans and non-binary representation in the genre and industry.
