Tinashe Has One Rule Before Agreeing to Be an Opening Act: Here’s Why Harry Styles Made the Cut

Tinashe is set to join Harry Styles as an opening act on his upcoming 2027 Together, Together stadium tour, but the R&B singer says she has become selective about which artists she is willing to support on the road.

Speaking at the Spotify x Coach event in New York City on Wednesday (Sept. 16), Tinashe explained that she reached a point in her career where she would only agree to open for an artist if she felt that artist genuinely understood her music and artistry. She has previously opened shows for major acts including Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Maroon 5.

For Styles, Tinashe said the decision was an easy one because she sees him as an artist who is open to different forms of artistry and focused on creating a positive experience for concertgoers. She also noted that she is excited about performing in stadiums, something she has not previously experienced with her own songs.

Tinashe will open both of Styles’ April 2 and April 3 concerts at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. Those performances will launch the North American portion of Styles’ expanded 2027 stadium tour, which will also visit Pasadena, Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta and Chicago. Different special guests have been announced for various dates across the tour.

Styles announced the additional 2027 dates earlier this month, extending his Together, Together tour into a global stadium run. The schedule includes 25 newly announced shows across 12 cities, with opening acts including Tinashe, Kylie Minogue, Lainey Wilson, Feist, LCD Soundsystem and Tears for Fears.

The tour comes as Tinashe prepares for the release of her fifth studio album, Popstar, which is scheduled for Sept. 25. She is also coming off the success of “No Broke Boys,” her collaboration with Disco Lines, which reached No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her second U.S. top 40 hit.

The Phoenix dates will give Tinashe her first opportunity to perform her songs in a stadium setting as she joins Styles for the opening shows of his 2027 North American run.
