Ricardo Montaner has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart for the first time in his career with “Para Que Seas Feliz.” The song rises from No. 3 to No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 3, 2026, marking a milestone more than three decades into his Billboard chart history.
“Para Que Seas Feliz” posted a 39% increase in U.S. audience impressions, reaching 8.9 million during the Sept. 18-24 tracking period. The song replaces Romeo Santos and Prince Royce’s “Ay San Miguel” at No. 1.
Montaner described the achievement as a meaningful moment in his career, saying that Billboard’s history connects generations of artists and audiences. He added that reaching the top of the Latin Airplay chart gives him “immense pleasure.”
The No. 1 marks Montaner’s 21st entry on Latin Airplay and his ninth top 10. His first appearance on the chart came in 1996 with “Soy Tuyo.” Before “Para Que Seas Feliz,” he had reached No. 2 twice, with “El Poder de Tu Amor” in 1999 and “Yo Puedo Hacer” in 2002.
The Venezuelan-Argentine singer’s wait for his first Latin Airplay No. 1 lasted nearly 30 years. Billboard reports that the achievement surpasses the previous record held by Los Ángeles Azules, who waited 27 years for their first No. 1 on the chart.
Montaner’s Billboard history dates back to 1988, when “Tan Enamorados” reached No. 9 on Hot Latin Songs. He has also collected four No. 1s on that chart, including “Castillo Azul,” which spent nine weeks at the top in 1992.
“Para Que Seas Feliz” is also performing across other Latin radio charts. The song spends a third week at No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay and rises to No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay, helped by a remix featuring Mexican singer Edén Muñoz. The Regional Mexican Airplay result is Montaner’s first appearance and first No. 1 on that chart.
