19-year-old Violet Grohl — daughter of rock legend Dave Grohl — has officially launched her solo career with the release of two debut tracks: THUM and Applefish.

Released December 5, 2025, the two songs are available as a 7-inch vinyl on Bandcamp — with “THUM” as the A-side and “Applefish” as the B-side. “THUM” has also been made available for streaming.
Violet announced the release on social media, writing: “I’m beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what I’ve been working on over the last year. I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they’re finally yours.”
Musically, “THUM” leans into alternative-rock territory — with a gritty energy drawing comparisons to ’90s alt bands, while “Applefish” delivers a slower, more cinematic vibe, spotlighting Violet’s softer vocals.
This release follows earlier work by Violet with her father: she contributed guest vocals on the 2023 Foo Fighters song Show Me How, and together they covered the song Nausea in 2021.
The debut comes after news last year that Violet had been working on a full solo album with producer Justin Raisen, known for collaborations in the rock and pop space.
