PLAVE: Out of the Tunnel, Into ‘HYPERDRIVE’

PLAVE are entering a new chapter with their upcoming fifth mini album, HYPERDRIVE, as the virtual K-pop group prepares to take its music to larger stages and international audiences. The project arrives after the group’s recent “KEEP IT MANIC” world tour opened with its first stadium concerts in Incheon.

The group’s five members — YEJUN, NOAH, BAMBY, EUNHO and HAMIN — have been involved in PLAVE’s music and performances since their debut in 2023. Over the past three years, the group has expanded from its early releases into major live performances and a growing international fan base.

Speaking with Billboard Korea ahead of the album, YEJUN compared the group’s current moment to emerging from a tunnel and seeing a new landscape ahead. The image reflects the transition PLAVE are making following a period of rapid growth and increasingly large-scale performances.

Their first stadium concerts in Incheon marked another milestone for the group. The shows were part of the “KEEP IT MANIC” world tour, which is also taking PLAVE to international markets, including the United States.

PLAVE have also been preparing to meet U.S. fans, with Los Angeles included among the group’s upcoming tour stops. The members have discussed the differences between performing for audiences in Korea and connecting with fans overseas as their activities continue to expand.

The group’s individual creative identities have also become more visible through their solo stages. The performances have given YEJUN, NOAH, BAMBY, EUNHO and HAMIN opportunities to showcase different sides of their artistry while remaining part of PLAVE’s larger group identity.

HYPERDRIVE is scheduled for digital release on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. KST, while the physical album is set for release on Oct. 13. PLAVE have been releasing concept material and promotional content ahead of the mini album, including individual and group concept photos.

In Japan, Universal Music has also announced CD purchase benefits for the album, with different stores offering exclusive photo cards and other items. The Japanese release is being prepared in multiple versions, including Racer Ver., Towel Ver. and PLBBUU Ver.

The album follows PLAVE’s fourth mini album, Caligo Pt.2, released earlier in 2026. With HYPERDRIVE, the group is moving into its next release cycle while continuing its world tour and expanding its activities across Korea, Japan and the United States.
