Ella Langley Makes Billboard History Again as ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Reaches 26 Weeks at No. 1

Ella Langley is continuing to make music history. Her hit single, “Choosin’ Texas,” has spent a record 26 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending its lead as the longest-running chart-topper in the chart’s history.

The latest achievement marks another major moment for the country singer. The song returned to No. 1 on the chart dated October 31 and remained at the top on the chart dated November 7. It had briefly lost the position to Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” before making its way back to the summit.

The song’s latest return is especially notable because it has now reached the top of the chart in nine different calendar months. It first claimed the No. 1 position in February 2026. Since then, it has continued to attract listeners through streaming, radio airplay and digital sales.

For the tracking week of October 23 to 29, “Choosin’ Texas” recorded 19.2 million official US streams. It also reached a radio audience of 57.8 million and sold 3,000 copies. These figures helped the song hold its position ahead of the competition.

The achievement puts Langley ahead of some of the biggest hits in Billboard Hot 100 history. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” previously held the record with 22 weeks at No. 1. Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” each spent 19 weeks at the top.

Langley has now moved four weeks beyond Carey’s record. Her success also gives country music another major moment on the mainstream charts.

“Choosin’ Texas” was released in October 2025 as the lead single from Langley’s third studio album, Dandelion. She co-wrote the song with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor.

The track tells a heartbreak story from the perspective of a woman whose partner leaves her for someone in Texas. Its country storytelling and memorable melody have helped it reach listeners beyond the genre’s traditional audience.

The song’s continued success shows how far Langley has come. She was already building a name in country music, but “Choosin’ Texas” has taken her career to a much wider audience. Its record-breaking run has also placed her alongside some of the most successful artists in Hot 100 history.

With the song still adding to its record, the next challenge will be maintaining its position as the holiday season approaches. Mariah Carey’s annual return to the charts could bring fresh competition. For now, however, Langley remains the artist holding the record.
