The final weekend of May brought a wide mix of major releases across pop, R&B, K-pop, hip-hop, and electronic music, with artists including Ariana Grande, Labrinth, and aespa all unveiling new projects.
Ariana Grande returned with “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the first official release from her upcoming album Petal. The track explores themes of perception, vulnerability, and emotional conflict, giving listeners an early look into the direction of her next era. The release marks her first new music since Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead arrived in March last year.
Labrinth also released a major new project with Cosmic Opera Act II, continuing his cinematic and experimental sound. The album arrives during a period of public tension surrounding his longtime work connected to HBO’s Euphoria, adding further attention to the release.
K-pop group aespa expanded their catalog with Lemonade, their second full-length album following last year’s Rich Man mini-project. The group continues building on the futuristic and high-energy sound that has helped define their identity within global pop.
Elsewhere, Latto, Violet Grohl, Los Enanitos Verdes, and K CAMP all delivered new albums this week, adding to an already crowded release schedule.
Several collaborations also stood out. What So Not teamed up with Alina Pash for “Everest,” while Skrillex joined forces with Randomer, Blawan, and MC Dricka on the hard-hitting electronic track “Thistle.”
Other releases throughout the week included new music from Jungle, Little Big Town, and Kaitlin Butts, making it one of the busiest release weekends of the month across multiple genres.
