Troye Sivan is opening up about the women who have influenced his new music, explaining why he feels most comfortable and happiest working alongside women in the entertainment industry. The Australian singer discussed the inspiration behind his upcoming album She’s the Best during a recent conversation with Zane Lowe.
Sivan said his connection to women has been a recurring part of both his personal life and professional career. While discussing the title track from She’s the Best, he described the song as a collage inspired by several people in his life rather than one specific individual.
The singer explained that he is at his happiest professionally when he can stand alongside a woman and celebrate what she is doing. He specifically mentioned his work with Ariana Grande, his friendship with Lily-Rose Depp and his experiences touring with Charli XCX as examples of relationships that have shaped his creative world.
Sivan also described She’s the Best as a love letter to the women who have influenced him. His comments came as he prepares to release the album, which follows his 2023 project Something to Give Each Other and marks another chapter in his evolving pop sound.
Nicole Kidman is also connected to the new album campaign. The actress stars alongside Sivan in the music video for “She’s the Best,” the album’s title track. Sivan has previously spoken about his long-standing fascination with Kidman, dating back to watching her in Moulin Rouge! as a child.
The singer has also discussed how the period following his previous album changed his perspective. After touring extensively and spending long periods away from home, Sivan said he began experiencing a sense of disconnection and loneliness despite the highly social and public nature of his career.
His relationship with drag and self-expression has also become part of the story surrounding the new music. Sivan recalled that performing in drag helped him experience a greater sense of freedom and allowed him to embrace aspects of himself that he had previously felt pressure to hide.
Sivan also addressed his friendship with Addison Rae after photos of the pair appeared online. He said the images were not teasing a new collaboration, describing Rae as one of the people who naturally fits into the world represented by the album.
She’s the Best is scheduled for release in October 2026, with Sivan continuing to promote the project through interviews and its accompanying visual campaign. The album follows his recent touring period with Charli XCX and his ongoing work with artists and collaborators across pop music.
